Footsteps to Theatre

Footsteps to Theatre is the non-profit branch of Cumbria Curtain Call, set up in 2019 to bring  performance and other theatre related experiences from outside the local area into the lives of local young creatives, and to break down financial barriers to access of these experiences.

Our flagship project took place at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where we took our wonderful group to perform a multiple show run in a Fringe Venue on the Royal Mile (and on multiple street performance stages), and experience the festival both as participants and spectators. The opportunity was open to young people of all levels of experience and ability, between the ages of 10 and 19, and for performers, creatives and those interested in the technical/backstage side of the theatre alike.

The work for this started in 2019 when we started to fundraise for the project (which was originally supposed to take place in 2021 but was unfortunately pushed back by the pandemic).

When we finally got there in 2022 it was a fantastic and rewarding experience for all, that had a huge impact on those involved. It still something we are all immensely proud of and that everyone still talks about all the time. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of the local community who helped make this possible. To find out more about our 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience, please see the link below.

Since then, we have funded and produced a production of 'SIX: Teen Edition' (amateur license supplied by Concord Theatricals) and are now working towards raising money to take another show to the 2027 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
